Description

AnCnoc 12 Year is a distinguished Scotch whisky hailing from the renowned Highland region of Scotland. Crafted at the historic Knockdhu Distillery, this Scotch bears the name of the local landmark, Knock Hill—known as anCnoc to the locals—ensuring its unique identity remains unmistakable. With an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 40.0%, this whisky embodies the quintessential Highland characteristics, offering an intricate tapestry of flavors. Aged for 12 years in a harmonious blend of American and Spanish oak barrels, AnCnoc 12 Year reveals a delicate balance between tradition and subtle innovation. The American oak infuses notes of vanilla and caramel sweetness, while the Spanish oak contributes a gentle spiciness and a whisper of dried fruit. On the nose, expect aromas of fresh citrus and a hint of honey, inviting you into a warm embrace. The palate is greeted with a smooth yet complex character; expect a mix of toffee, floral nuances, and a touch of oak, culminating in a long, satisfying finish that leaves a trace of fine smoke. For those who prefer to savor the full spectrum of its flavors, serving AnCnoc 12 Year neat in a Glencairn glass is an excellent choice, allowing the whisky to breathe and release its aromatic bouquet. Alternatively, a few drops of water can open up new dimensions, softening the alcohol edge and enhancing the underlying sweetness. If you enjoy your whisky on the rocks, consider using large ice cubes to chill without diluting, preserving the whisky’s rich profile. AnCnoc 12 Year also shines in classic cocktails where its nuanced complexity can be appreciated. It makes a delightful base for a Whiskey Sour, where its citrus notes harmonize beautifully with lemon juice, or in a traditional Old Fashioned, where its depth of flavor can be fully appreciated. Whether enjoyed neat, with a splash, or in a cocktail, AnCnoc 12 Year stands as a testament to Highland whisky craftsmanship.

Had a glass of this anCnoc 12 by the fire on a chilly March night. Nice and easy, lighter than my usual winter scotches but still warming. Might be better in late fall.

Fireplace and Highland whisky just works. If you want something richer for winter, try the GlenDronach next time.
