Description
Woodford Straight Wheat Whiskey offers a distinctive take on the bourbon tradition, crafted in the heart of Kentucky. This bourbon's notable high wheat content lends it a gentle character, setting it apart from typical rye-heavy counterparts. At 45.2% ABV, it provides a balanced experience that invites both novices and connoisseurs to explore its nuanced profile. Expect a smooth sip with a delicate sweetness that hints at vanilla and honey. The whiskey's softness is beautifully complemented by subtle oak undertones, creating a refined and cohesive palate. While it possesses the classic warmth of bourbon, the wheat influence introduces a lightness that tempers the usual spice, making it an inviting option for those seeking a milder approach. For purists, savoring Woodford Straight Wheat neat in a Glencairn glass allows its aromas to unfold fully, bringing forward hints of grain and faint floral nuances. Chilling it over a single ice cube in a rocks glass can open up the whiskey further, softening the edges and revealing additional layers of flavor. A splash of water can also enhance the tasting experience, highlighting the inherent sweetness and drawing out its more subtle notes. Woodford Straight Wheat shines in classic bourbon cocktails as well. It lends itself particularly well to a Whiskey Sour, where its sweetness and smoothness balance the tart lemon, creating a harmonious blend. For those who prefer their whiskey in a more traditional setting, it serves as a refined base for a Manhattan, lending a uniquely soft twist to the cocktail's usual bold character. Whether neat or mixed, this whiskey promises a distinctive experience that is both approachable and memorable.

Real smooth and kind of sneaky strong. Sipped a couple watching the game and definitely felt it kick in later. Good stuff.

Had some on the back deck in late March. Little lighter than I usually go for but actually hit just right with the chilly air. Not sure I'd want it mid July though.
Response from CBC Liquors, Westford
March is perfect for something like the Woodford Wheat. If you want heavier for summer, try their regular bourbon next time.
