Benriach Smoky Twelve

Benriach The Smoky Twelve is a distinguished single malt Scotch whisky hailing from the renowned Speyside region of Scotland. With an ABV of 46%, this expression presents a skillful balance of flavors, owing its complexity to a unique maturation process in a trio of casks: bourbon, sherry, and marsala. Such an intricate aging journey imparts layers of character that are both bold and refined, making it a standout choice for discerning whisky enthusiasts. Expect an engaging interplay of flavors with each sip of The Smoky Twelve. The bourbon cask lends a gentle sweetness and vanilla undertone, while the sherry cask contributes rich, fruity notes reminiscent of ripe berries and dried fruit. The marsala cask, less common in whisky maturation, adds a subtle touch of nutty warmth and complexity. Throughout, a signature smoky aroma weaves through, offering a gentle hint of peat that is both inviting and nuanced, typical of select Speyside expressions. When it comes to serving The Smoky Twelve, simplicity allows its complexity to shine. Enjoy it neat to fully appreciate the intricate layers of flavor, or add a splash of water to open up the bouquet and allow the more subtle notes to emerge. For those who prefer a chilled experience, serving over a single large ice cube in a rocks glass can mellow the smokiness, allowing the sweeter elements to take center stage. For cocktail enthusiasts, The Smoky Twelve lends itself beautifully to classic preparations. Its rich flavor profile is a perfect foundation for a sophisticated Old Fashioned, and it brings a robust depth to a well-crafted Manhattan. However, this whisky's true strength lies in its ability to be savored on its own, offering a contemplative experience that highlights the artistry of Speyside's whisky tradition. Pour into a Glencairn glass to focus the aromas and enhance the nosing experience, ensuring every sip is as rewarding as the last.
