Glendronach Original 12 Year

GlenDronach Original 12 Year is a distinguished single malt Scotch whisky, hailing from the heart of Scotland's Highlands. This meticulously crafted spirit has spent twelve years maturing in a curated blend of oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, contributing to its rich and complex character. With an ABV of 43%, it offers a beautifully balanced profile that whisky enthusiasts treasure. Upon first encounter, expect a warm, inviting aroma filled with notes of dried fruits, including raisins and sultanas, mingling with hints of vanilla and spice. The influence of the sherry casks is evident, imparting a luscious sweetness and a subtle nuttiness that complements the whisky's natural grain and oak undertones. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with layers of dark chocolate, ripe figs, and a touch of nutmeg, leading to a long, warming finish that leaves a whisper of gentle spice. For those who prefer to savor their whisky neat, GlenDronach Original 12 Year reveals its full array of flavors in every sip. Alternatively, a splash of water can enhance its complexity, opening up the bouquet and softening the spice to let the sweeter notes shine through. If you choose to enjoy it on the rocks, the gradual melting of ice will bring a refreshing balance to its rich character. While this whisky is a delight to enjoy on its own, it also lends itself beautifully to classic cocktails. Its robust flavor profile makes it an excellent choice for an Old Fashioned, where it can stand up to the bitters and sugar, or a Manhattan, where its sherry influence adds depth and complexity to the vermouth's sweetness. Whichever way you choose to enjoy it, serving it in a Glencairn glass will enhance the nosing experience, allowing you to fully appreciate the intricate aromas that GlenDronach Original 12 Year has to offer.
