Description
The Estate Merlot from Alexander Vineyards captures the essence of California's rich winemaking tradition, presenting a vibrant and inviting profile for red wine enthusiasts. With its deep garnet hue, this Merlot invites exploration with its complex array of flavors and aromas. Expect notes of ripe dark fruits, such as black cherry and plum, which are beautifully interwoven with subtle hints of cocoa and tobacco. The wine's body is medium to full, offering a luscious mouthfeel that is complemented by velvety tannins and a well-honed acidity, leading to a smooth, lingering finish. This Merlot is versatile in its pairing potential, making it an excellent companion to a variety of dishes. It pairs beautifully with hearty meals such as roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, or mushroom risotto, where its bold flavors can shine alongside rich, savory dishes. For a simpler affair, consider pairing it with a selection of aged cheeses to highlight its fruit-forward character and enhance its silky texture. Serve this wine at a temperature of around 60-65°F to allow its nuanced flavors to fully express themselves. While decanting is not strictly necessary, doing so for about 30 minutes can help further open up the wine, enhancing its aromatic depth and softening its tannins. A wide-bowled glass, such as a Bordeaux glass, is ideal for enjoying this Merlot, as it allows the wine to breathe and the bouquet to develop fully. The Estate Merlot is a drink-now wine that will delight today but also has the potential to evolve gracefully over the next few years if carefully cellared. Enjoying this wine now will reward you with a vivid taste of California craftsmanship, as each sip offers a testament to the region's celebrated winemaking heritage.

Was not expecting it to pack that much of a punch for a Merlot. Smooth going down but after one glass I was definitely feeling it. Good with leftover pizza, just maybe pace yourself.
