It is a heavily peated whisky, with smoldering peat and earthy notes on the nose and a robust smokiness on the palate, along with hints of oak and a subtle sweetness. It finishes long and warming. Stormy night, poured a dram of Octomore 16.3 and just sat by the fire. Absolute smoke bomb but in the best way. Perfect for cold weather and slow evenings.

That fireplace is made for Islay nights like that. If you want to try another peaty one, the Ardbeg Uigeadail is worth a look.
Blew through the bottle faster than planned sharing pours after dinner. Just wish it lasted longer, but the peat makes it special.
First had this at a friend's place and tracked it down right after. Nothing else hits like Octomore. Worth coming back for every time.
