Description
Decoy Sonoma Chardonnay beautifully captures the essence of its coastal California origins, presenting a wine that is both elegant and approachable. This Chardonnay showcases the distinctive character of Sonoma County, where cool coastal influences create a perfect environment for Chardonnay grapes to develop their full potential. With a 13.9% ABV, this wine is a fine example of the balance that can be achieved in this celebrated region. Expect a delightful bouquet of crisp green apple and pear, intertwined with a subtle hint of citrus. These fresh fruit aromas are complemented by the wine’s bright acidity, making each sip a refreshing experience. The palate is met with a medium body that carries flavors of ripe stone fruits, enhanced by the gentle touch of oak that introduces notes of vanilla, spice, and a whisper of toasted hazelnut. This nuanced oak influence enriches the wine’s texture, offering a finish that is both smooth and lingering. For optimal enjoyment, serve this Chardonnay slightly chilled at around 50°F. It benefits from a brief decanting to allow its intricate flavors to fully unfold. A standard white wine glass with a larger bowl is ideal, as it will help concentrate the wine’s aromas, enhancing your tasting experience. Decoy Sonoma Chardonnay is versatile in its culinary pairings. Its balanced acidity and richness pair wonderfully with creamy dishes, such as lobster with butter sauce or eggs benedict. It also complements roasted poultry and pork dishes, especially those with fruity accompaniments like apple-stuffed pork chops. For a lighter pairing, consider a fresh crab salad or a mango-accented salad, which will draw out the wine’s vibrant fruit notes. While delicious now, this Chardonnay possesses the structure to evolve in your cellar, rewarding those who choose to let it mellow for a few years.

and for a weeknight wine, not bad at all. Stayed crisp even as it warmed up a little in the glass. Chilled and sipped with roast turkey leftovers, better than I thought it would be.

Brought this Decoy Chardonnay for brunch with friends. Pretty crisp and worked well with quiche, just a tad more buttery than I usually go for but everyone finished their glass.
