Description
This California Chardonnay from the McBride Sisters embraces the quintessential elements of its region, offering a delightful exploration into the nuances of New World winemaking. Expect a wine that embodies the balance between ripe fruit and the nuanced influence of oak, a hallmark of Californian style Chardonnay. With an ABV of 13.5%, this wine unfolds layers of tropical fruit flavors, likely mingled with whispers of vanilla and a hint of butter, thanks to its oak treatment. As you savor each sip, anticipate a medium to full-bodied experience with a smooth texture rounding off into a subtle, lingering finish. While this Chardonnay is lovely on its own, its true potential shines when paired with complementary flavors. The oak influences make it a superb choice for rich seafood dishes like lobster or halibut. Its body and slight butteriness also stand up beautifully to dishes such as pork chops stuffed with apples or a creamy eggs benedict. For those who prefer lighter fare, this Chardonnay pairs elegantly with roasted butternut squash or a salad accented with mango, which highlights the wine's inherent brightness. To fully appreciate its character, serve this Chardonnay slightly chilled, ideally between 50-55°F. While decanting is not necessary, allowing the wine to breathe for a few minutes in the glass will enhance its aromatic profile. A wide-bowled glass, such as a traditional Chardonnay glass, will help concentrate the wine's bouquet and provide ample surface area for the wine to express itself. This bottle is perfect for immediate enjoyment, showcasing the vibrant fruit and subtle oak typical of Californian Chardonnays. However, it can also benefit from short-term aging, allowing the flavors to harmonize and develop further complexity over the next few years. Whether you're pairing it with a meal or appreciating it on its own, this McBride Sisters Chardonnay offers a genuine taste of California's winemaking prowess.

My go-to white lately. Buying again for sure, always crisp and smooth out of the fridge.

Didnt think 13.5 would feel so strong but it kicked in fast. Easy drinking at first, then I was done after two glasses.
Response from CBC Liquors, Westford
That McBride Sisters Chardonnay does have a little extra punch to it. If you want something milder next time, try the Sonoma-Cutrer for an easy afternoon sipper.

Roast chicken dinner and a glass of this chardonnay just works. Toasty but not too heavy, went great with the pan gravy. Good weeknight wine.
