Description

CAILLOTTES SANCERE by Maison De Madeleine is a quintessential expression of Sauvignon Blanc from the renowned Loire Valley. This wine captures the essence of the Sancerre region with its vibrant acidity and mineral undertones, a testament to the unique limestone-rich soils, known locally as "caillottes". At first sip, expect a delightful burst of green apple and citrus, with subtle hints of white flowers weaving through the palate. The medium body gracefully balances its lively acidity, while a whisper of wet stone adds complexity to its crisp finish. This Sancerre is ideally served chilled at a temperature of around 8-10°C (46-50°F) to fully appreciate its refreshing qualities. Although decanting is not necessary, allowing it to breathe briefly in the glass can enhance its aromatic profile. A slender, tulip-shaped glass will best capture its delicate nose and direct its vibrant flavors to the palate. When considering food pairings, this wine is a natural complement to fresh seafood and goat cheese, both traditional to its Loire Valley origins. Try it alongside a platter of oysters or a creamy chèvre salad for a harmonious dining experience. Grilled white fish with a squeeze of lemon or a light, herb-infused chicken dish will also highlight its bright character. CAILLOTTES SANCERE is crafted for immediate enjoyment but has the potential to develop further complexity with a few years of careful cellaring. Its lively nature and expressive personality make it an excellent choice for those seeking a genuine taste of Sancerre's celebrated terroir.

Honestly was looking for something a little brighter but this still went great with roast chicken and asparagus. Loved how crisp it stayed even after warming up a bit. Would grab again if I can't find the last Sancerre I had.
