Description
Don Julio Añejo Tequila, hailing from the highlands of Los Altos, Jalisco, is a testament to the craftsmanship of Mexican spirit-making. This 80-proof treasure is meticulously aged for 18 months, allowing it to develop a profound depth that distinguishes it from its younger counterparts. With each sip, you can expect the bold essence of agave to shine through, skillfully complemented by the warm, inviting notes imparted by the oak barrels. The aging process enriches the tequila with layered flavors of caramel, vanilla, and a hint of spice, creating an intricate yet harmonious profile that lingers gracefully on the palate. While the complexity of Don Julio Añejo makes it a superb choice for sipping neat, it also lends itself beautifully to more sophisticated cocktail creations. The spirit's robust character shines in a classic Old Fashioned, where its rich undertones can be highlighted by the addition of subtle bitters and a twist of orange. Alternatively, for those who prefer a more vibrant, citrus-forward experience, incorporating this Añejo into a refined Margarita offers a delightful contrast between the tequila's aged sweetness and the cocktail's zesty lime. For optimal enjoyment, serve Don Julio Añejo in a rocks glass, allowing its aromas to open up as it warms slightly to room temperature. Though it can be appreciated neat, a single large ice cube can extend the sipping experience, slowly unlocking the tequila's evolving flavors. A thin rim of salt or a wedge of citrus can be offered on the side, but they are by no means necessary; this tequila stands strong all on its own. Embrace the depth and complexity of this Añejo and savor its journey from the heart of Jalisco to your glass.

Smooth enough to sip, but I still like it better in an old fashioned. Will probably get another bottle, though I might try their reposado next time just to compare.
