Teeling Wonders of Wood Single Pot Still

Teeling Wonders of Wood Single Pot Still Whiskey is a distinctive entry in the realm of Irish whiskey, hailing from the heart of Dublin. This expression is part of Teeling's innovative Wonders of Wood series, showcasing a twist on tradition with its unique maturation process. Crafted with a mash bill of 50% malted barley and 50% unmalted barley, it offers a nod to the classic Irish single pot still style while venturing beyond the usual oak casks. This whiskey finds its character in the embrace of virgin Chinkapin oak, a choice that infuses it with a distinct array of flavors not commonly found in its counterparts. Expect a compelling profile that intertwines the creamy texture of barley with a tapestry of wood-derived notes. The Chinkapin oak lends itself to subtle yet intriguing flavors that might include hints of spice, gentle vanilla, and a whisper of sweetness. Such maturation fosters a spirit that invites savoring, with layers that unfold with each sip. When serving, consider it neat or with a splash of water to fully appreciate its multifaceted nature. The addition of water can help release more nuanced aromas and soften the robust 50% ABV to a more approachable level. In terms of mixology, Teeling Wonders of Wood shines in classic whiskey cocktails where its unique character can take center stage. An Old Fashioned or a Manhattan crafted with this whiskey can offer a new perspective, as the wood influences add depth and complexity to these timeless drinks. For those who enjoy a straightforward approach, a Highball with quality soda water can elevate its natural flavors without overshadowing them. For the ideal tasting experience, use a Glencairn glass. This vessel is designed for nosing, allowing the intricate aromas to concentrate and enhance the sensory exploration of this whiskey. Whether you’re delving into its rich tapestry on its own or experimenting with cocktail creation, Teeling Wonders of Wood Single Pot Still Whiskey stands as a testament to both tradition and innovation, offering a unique take on what Irish whiskey can be.
