Description

What Dwells Within by Bissell Brothers is an exploration into the depths of specialty beer, crafted in the heart of Maine. With an impressive 10% ABV, this beer defies traditional classifications, inviting you into a world where usual beer conventions are delightfully challenged. Expect a complex profile that emphasizes depth over bitterness, as evidenced by its unique IBU of 0. This suggests a smooth, richly malty experience, where hops play a supporting rather than leading role, allowing other flavors to emerge and shine in unexpected ways. As a high-gravity specialty beer, What Dwells Within is best served at slightly warmer temperatures than your standard lager—around 50 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit—to fully appreciate its intricate layers. Pour it into a tulip glass, which will highlight its aromatic qualities while giving room for its head to form and settle, enhancing the sensory experience. This choice of glassware also allows you to savor the beer's bouquet, likely revealing subtle, evolving notes that hint at its robust malt foundation. Pair What Dwells Within with richly flavored foods that can stand up to its formidable character. Consider dishes like braised short ribs, grilled sausages, or a hearty stew. The beer's maltiness and strength make it an excellent companion to aged cheeses, where its flavors can balance and complement the rich textures and robust tastes. This specialty beer invites experimentation in pairing, as its unconventional profile broadens the palate, offering new discoveries with each sip. With its origins rooted in Maine, What Dwells Within reflects the spirit of innovation and a dedication to the craft. This is not just a beer; it’s an invitation to explore and redefine the boundaries of beer tasting, offering an experience that is as engaging as it is enjoyable. Whether you’re a seasoned beer enthusiast or a curious newcomer, prepare for a journey into the unknown with each pour.

Was bracing myself for something sweeter but it's more dry and a little boozy up front. I thought there would be more fruitiness like some Maine beers but still liked how bold it was.

Brought one of these to poker night and split it with the guys. We dont usually go for heavier stuff but everyone liked it, nobody complained. Only thing is its real strong so you kinda want to sip it slow.
