Medusa Brewing Varlet

Varlet by Medusa Brewing is a distinctive sour beer that showcases the innovative spirit of this Massachusetts brewery. With an invitingly low ABV of 3.5%, Varlet is a light and refreshing choice for those who appreciate the tart complexity that sour beers offer. While typical sours can range in bitterness, Varlet takes a different path with an IBU of 0, ensuring a smooth, silky sip without the interference of hops. This bright and effervescent beer is a testament to the balance of tangy and subtle sweetness, a combination often achieved through careful fermentation techniques. Sour beers like Varlet commonly exhibit flavors reminiscent of crisp green apple, citrus, and stone fruits, making them a delightful pairing with a variety of foods. Consider enjoying Varlet alongside a fresh goat cheese salad or a platter of shellfish, where its acidity will complement and enhance the flavors. Serving Varlet at its best involves a bit of finesse. It's ideal to serve this sour beer slightly chilled, around 45 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, to ensure the nuanced flavors are fully expressed without being muted by excessive cold. A tulip glass is the perfect vessel for Varlet, as its shape promotes the retention of the beer's aroma while allowing room for its lively carbonation to shine. Whether you're exploring the diverse world of sour beers or have long been a fan, Varlet by Medusa Brewing is a compelling choice that brings a taste of Massachusetts' vibrant brewing scene to your glass.
