Christian Drouin Selection Calvados

Selection Calvados by Christian Drouin is a distinctive spirit crafted in the heart of Normandy's Calvados Domfrontais region. This youthful calvados is crafted from a blend of apples and pears, capturing the orchard essence the region is celebrated for. With an ABV of 40%, it offers a fresh, inviting profile that stands out with its delicate balance and approachable character. The single-column distillation process employed for this calvados results in a lighter and more fruit-forward spirit compared to its double-distilled counterparts. Expect a fragrant bouquet that hints at crisp apples and juicy pears, making it an excellent choice for those who appreciate the subtler side of brandy. Its youthful vigor and vivacious flavors make Selection Calvados a delightful aperitif, best enjoyed neat in a snifter to fully appreciate its aromatic complexity and clean finish. This calvados also serves as a versatile base for a variety of cocktails. Its fruit-forward nature shines in a classic Sidecar, where its crisp apple notes blend harmoniously with citrus and orange liqueur. For a creamy indulgence, consider it in a Brandy Alexander, where its lighter body provides an elegant contrast to rich cream and cocoa flavors. Alternatively, bring a touch of Normandy to the traditional Sazerac by substituting Selection Calvados for the usual rye or cognac, imparting a fresh, fruity twist to the iconic drink. Serving Selection Calvados slightly chilled can enhance its refreshing qualities, especially when served as an aperitif. Whether sipped on its own or mixed into a cocktail, this calvados offers an inviting taste of Normandy's terroir, perfect for those looking to explore the lighter side of brandy.
