Description
In the heart of New Zealand's renowned Marlborough region, Wither Hills presents a Sauvignon Blanc that captures the essence of this distinctive terroir. Expect a lively burst of aromatics, with notes reminiscent of freshly cut grass, zesty lemon, and ripe passion fruit — hallmarks of the region's celebrated style. The wine dances on the palate with a crisp, refreshing acidity that complements its light to medium body. Tannins take a backseat, allowing the vibrant fruit flavors to shine through before culminating in a clean, mineral-driven finish. This Sauvignon Blanc is exceptionally versatile when it comes to food pairings. It harmonizes beautifully with seafood dishes, particularly those featuring shellfish such as oysters or mussels. Its acidity also cuts through creamy goat cheese and balances the richness of avocado-based dishes, making it an ideal partner for a light summer salad or citrus-infused ceviche. For optimal enjoyment, serve this wine well-chilled, around 45 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Such a temperature accentuates its crispness and bright aromas. While this Sauvignon Blanc does not require decanting, allowing it a moment to breathe in the glass can intensify its aromatic profile. Bright and youthful, this wine is best appreciated in its early years to fully experience the vibrant freshness that Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs are famed for. When serving, opt for a classic white wine glass to highlight the wine's aromatic intensity. Its slender bowl and narrow rim will concentrate the aromas towards your nose, enhancing the tasting experience. Designed to be enjoyed now, this bottle promises a refreshing experience that embodies the spirit of New Zealand's celebrated winemaking tradition.

Expected something a bit punchier from Marlborough but this one leans lighter and more mellow. Paired with some herby chicken and it worked fine, just not as zingy as I thought.

Appreciate the detail, herby chicken is a good call. If you ever want a sharper style, check out Oyster Bay next time. - Frank
