Description
Hailing from the picturesque Uco Valley in Argentina, Portillo Salentein's Sauvignon Blanc is a testament to the region's unique terroir and winemaking finesse. This wine exemplifies the dynamic character often associated with Sauvignon Blanc, offering a bright and refreshing profile that captures the essence of its high-altitude vineyards. Expect a lively bouquet of citrus notes, where zesty lime and grapefruit intermingle with hints of green apple, culminating in a vibrant aromatic experience. On the palate, this wine delivers a crisp acidity that carries the fruit forward, balancing it effortlessly with its medium body. The freshness of its flavor profile is complemented by subtle mineral undertones, typical of the alluvial soils in the Uco Valley, which add a refined complexity to each sip. The finish is clean and invigorating, leaving a lasting impression of fruit and a delicate whisper of acidity. Serving Portillo Salentein Sauvignon Blanc at around 8–10°C (46–50°F) will enhance its refreshing qualities, making it an excellent companion for warm weather or light, alfresco dining. While decanting is not necessary for this varietal, allowing it a few moments of air once poured can help to fully release its aromatic potential. A slender, tulip-shaped white wine glass will capture its fragrant notes and deliver them elegantly to the nose. Versatile in its pairings, this Sauvignon Blanc shines alongside a variety of dishes. It beautifully complements fresh seafood, such as oysters or ceviche, and pairs well with goat cheese salads topped with citrus vinaigrette. Its acidity also cuts through the richness of creamy pasta dishes, providing a balanced dining experience. While this wine is ready to drink now, its vibrant nature and skillful vinification suggest it can hold for a couple of years, allowing for slight evolutions in its character, should you choose to cellar it briefly.

Crisp, clean, and super easy.

Expected something a little lighter, but this is brighter and zippier than most cheap Sauvignon Blancs. Had it with shrimp tacos, pretty solid match. Would grab again for summer patio nights.
