Description
Oude Pinot Meunier by TILQUIN is an intriguing addition to the world of sour beers, hailing from the esteemed fermentation traditions of Wallonia, Belgium. This beer transforms the conventional approach to lambics by integrating Pinot Meunier grapes, resulting in a fascinating blend that captures the essence of both worlds. The beer's 8.0% ABV frames a complex tapestry of flavors, where the inherent tartness of traditional lambic beer is seamlessly interwoven with the gentle, fruity sweetness of the Pinot Meunier grape. The tasting journey begins with an engaging aroma that hints at a rich bouquet of red fruits, suggestive of berries and cherries, layered with the characteristic earthy notes of lambic. On the palate, one can expect a medium-bodied experience with a lively effervescence that enhances the beer's refreshing quality. The interplay of grape sweetness and lambic sourness is nuanced and well-balanced, offering a delightful contrast that evolves with each sip. The finish is crisp, leaving a lingering impression of tart fruit and a subtle dryness. Serving Oude Pinot Meunier at a temperature of around 45-50°F will enhance its vibrant flavors, allowing both the grape and the beer's unique characteristics to shine. While decanting is not necessary, pouring it into a tulip or oversized wine glass will help concentrate the aromas, providing a fuller sensory experience. This sour beer pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, particularly those that can complement its acidity, such as goat cheese salads, grilled poultry with fruit glazes, or even spicy Asian cuisine. While Oude Pinot Meunier is crafted to be enjoyed now, it also holds the potential for further aging, which could deepen its flavor profile and bring more of the grape's character to the forefront. Whether you're a sour beer enthusiast or a wine lover looking to explore the world of beer, this offering from TILQUIN is sure to deliver a captivating tasting experience.

Split this over a few hours and sipped it neat out of tulip glasses. Great sipper but more sour than I expected for a grape blend.

Popped the cork with some friends on game night. None of us had tried a grape lambic before and it totally surprised everyone. Tart, funky, really cool twist, every glass got emptier quick.
