Jeffersons Ocean Double Barrel Rye

Ocean Double Barrel Rye by JEFFERSONS is a compelling exploration into the world of American rye whiskey, emerging from the heart of Kentucky. At 47% ABV, this rye offers a robust profile that combines the tradition of rye whiskey with a modern twist, marked by its unique double-barrel aging process. The aging, which occurs both in the traditional rickhouses and aboard a ship traversing the ocean, infuses the spirit with a distinctive character. The constant motion and varying climate conditions experienced at sea promote an interaction between the whiskey and the wood that yields a depth of flavor seldom found in conventional aging environments. Expect a rich tapestry of aromas and flavors that are characteristic of rye but amplified by the sea's influence. Initial notes of spice and toasted oak are prominent, with secondary waves of vanilla and caramel sweetness that surface gracefully. There's an underlying saltiness, likely imparted by the ocean voyage, which adds an intriguing layer to the palate. This rye is best appreciated neat, allowing the full complexity of its journey to unfurl with each sip. Alternatively, a splash of water can gently open up the more subtle notes, offering a different perspective on this multifaceted spirit. For cocktail enthusiasts, Ocean Double Barrel Rye shines in classic concoctions. It forms the backbone of an exceptional Old Fashioned, where its spicy and sweet notes complement the bitters and sugar. In a Manhattan, its bold character stands up beautifully against vermouth and bitters, crafting a drink that's as engaging as it is sophisticated. For those who prefer a lighter touch, pairing this rye with ginger ale in a Highball allows its more delicate maritime notes to take the spotlight. When serving, consider using a Glencairn glass to nose the complex aromas or a rocks glass for a more casual experience. Whether enjoyed alone or as the star ingredient in a cocktail, Ocean Double Barrel Rye by JEFFERSONS offers a captivating sip that invites exploration and rewards the palate with every taste.
