Description
Experience the depth and allure of the Joseph Phelps Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, a testament to the art of winemaking in the renowned Napa Valley. At its core, this wine reveals a rich tapestry of dark fruit flavors, predominantly ripe blackcurrant and plum, interwoven with subtle hints of mocha and spice. Its full-bodied presence is anchored by well-integrated tannins that contribute to a silky yet robust mouthfeel, a hallmark of Napa’s celebrated terroir. With an ABV of 14.5%, this Cabernet Sauvignon strikes a balance between power and elegance, allowing its layers of flavor to unfurl gracefully. To fully appreciate this wine’s complexity, serve it at an optimal temperature of around 60-65 degrees Fahrenheit. Decanting is recommended, especially if enjoyed young, as it allows the wine to breathe, revealing deeper nuances and smoothing out the tannic structure. The broad bowl of a Bordeaux glass will concentrate its enticing aromas and enhance the overall tasting experience. This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with hearty dishes that can stand up to its intensity. Consider serving it alongside a perfectly grilled ribeye steak, roasted lamb with herbs, or a rich mushroom risotto. For a cheese pairing, opt for aged cheddar or a creamy blue to complement the wine’s bold flavors. While it is delightful now, this wine also has the potential to age gracefully, developing further complexity over the next decade. Whether you choose to enjoy it now or cellar it for a special occasion, the Joseph Phelps Napa Cabernet Sauvignon remains a brilliant expression of its Napa Valley roots.

Always hits the spot. Big Napa cab done right.

Went with this instead of my usual Silver Oak. Definitely bigger and richer, more dark fruit going on. Would have liked just a touch less tannin but still enjoyed it with burgers off the grill.
Store response
Joseph Phelps has a little more grip than Silver Oak for sure. If you want softer next time, try Cakebread Cab.
