Schilling Glimmen

Glimmen by Schilling is a testament to the rich traditions of Belgian-style beer, skillfully brewed in the heart of New Hampshire. At an assertive 8.0% ABV, this brew delivers a complex and full-bodied experience, typical of the Belgian strong ale category. Expect a delightful interplay of fruity esters and spicy phenols, complemented by a subtle sweetness that stems from a carefully selected malt bill. With an IBU of 30, the bitterness is restrained, allowing the beer's nuanced flavors to shine through without overwhelming the palate. To fully appreciate Glimmen's depth, serve it slightly chilled at around 45-50°F, which will allow the intricate aromas to develop as it warms gently. Pour it into a tulip glass to concentrate the bouquet at the rim, channeling the delicate notes of clove and banana typical of this style. The glass's shape also supports the beer's rich head, enhancing the sensory experience with each sip. This Belgian-style beer pairs beautifully with a diverse array of dishes. Its fruity and spicy profile is a perfect match for rich and robust flavors such as roasted meats, aged cheeses, and hearty stews. The beer's inherent sweetness also complements the savory and umami notes in grilled sausages or a classic moules-frites. For those with a sweet tooth, consider enjoying Glimmen alongside a dessert like a dark chocolate torte or a slice of spiced fruit cake, where the beer's malt character and sweetness can echo the dessert's complexities.
