Description
High West Double Rye is a captivating blend of two straight rye whiskeys, bringing together the best of tradition and innovation. Bottled in Utah, this whiskey showcases a blend of youthful vigor and subtle maturity with components aged between 2 and 7 years. The first part of the blend originates from MGP in Indiana, crafted with an assertive mash bill of 95% rye and 5% barley malt. This high-rye content imparts a bold, spicy character that rye whiskey enthusiasts cherish. Complementing this is High West's own distillation, with a mash bill of 80% rye and 20% malted rye, adding a layer of complexity and depth. Expect a nose brimming with vibrant aromas of cinnamon and fresh mint, a hallmark of rye whiskies. On the palate, the spice-forward nature continues, interwoven with notes of green apple, clove, and a touch of honeyed sweetness. The finish is long and warming, leaving a lingering impression of pepper and oak. To fully appreciate the intricate character of High West Double Rye, consider serving it neat in a Glencairn glass, which will concentrate its intriguing aromas for a detailed nosing experience. Alternatively, enjoy it on the rocks to slightly mellow the spice and reveal more of the whiskey's sweetness. With its robust profile, this rye is a versatile companion for classic cocktails. It makes an exceptional base for Manhattans, where its spice beautifully balances the sweetness of vermouth. For those who prefer a simpler mix, a Highball with ginger ale can highlight its zesty notes. High West Double Rye is bottled at 92 proof, or 46% ABV, ensuring a full-bodied experience whether enjoyed in solitude or as the centerpiece of a well-crafted cocktail. Its rich history and dynamic flavor profile make it a standout option for those who appreciate the bold character of American rye whiskey.

Four nights and the bottle was done between three of us. Tastes good, little spicy kick.

That one does disappear fast with friends around. If you want something that might slow things down next time, maybe try our Old Forester 100 Proof.

Double Rye was solid, would buy again but probably try something else first. Good with smoked wings last Saturday.

Not for the faint of heart. This is strong stuff, felt it right away. Had a couple pours watching hockey and definitely snuck up on me.
