Description
SeaGlass Chardonnay, hailing from the renowned California Central Coast, is a vivid expression of this versatile grape varietal. Known for showcasing the unique terroir of its origins, this Chardonnay balances the classic characteristics typical of the region. With a moderate 13.5% ABV, it captures the essence of coastal influences, often resulting in wines with bright acidity and a lively fruit profile. Upon the first sip, expect a refreshing burst of citrus, with notes of green apple and pear lingering beneath. This fruit-forward character is often underlined by a subtle hint of minerality, offering a clean, invigorating finish. The presence of oak is typically minimal, allowing the natural flavors of the grape to shine through without the interference of heavy butter or vanilla tones often found in some Chardonnays from warmer climates. Best enjoyed at a slightly chilled temperature of around 50-55°F, SeaGlass Chardonnay benefits from the use of a standard white wine glass to concentrate its delicate aromas. While not strictly necessary, allowing this wine to breathe for a few minutes after opening can enhance its more nuanced qualities. This is a wine crafted for immediate enjoyment, although its well-structured acidity ensures it can be appreciated over the next couple of years. Food pairings with SeaGlass Chardonnay are versatile, offering a delightful complement to a wide range of dishes. Its crisp, unoaked profile makes it an ideal partner for seafood, such as prawns or crab cakes. The wine’s acidity also pairs beautifully with fresh salads adorned with tropical fruits like mango, or even with mild curries that let its clean flavors shine. Whether paired alongside a meal or enjoyed on its own, this Chardonnay is a testament to the elegant simplicity that can be achieved with a well-crafted white wine.

Usually I buy Kendall-Jackson, but SeaGlass was on the table at book club and did just fine. Not quite as buttery as my usual, but honestly nice for how fresh it tastes.
