Garrison Brothers Balmorhea

Balmorhea by Garrison Brothers is a Texas-born bourbon that offers a singular experience for those who appreciate the nuanced complexities of double-barrel aging. At 57.5% ABV, this bourbon carries a powerful presence, characterized by a robust flavor profile that is both intense and refined. Expect notes that weave together warm vanilla, toasted oak, and a hint of spice, providing a layered tasting journey that reflects its rich heritage. For those who prefer to savor their whiskey neat, Balmorhea reveals its character in full, with each sip unfolding new dimensions of flavor. However, a splash of water can open up the bouquet, softening the edges and allowing subtler notes to emerge, making it an excellent choice for both seasoned bourbon lovers and newcomers looking to explore. When served over ice, the gradual dilution brings forth a cooling effect that tempers the bourbon's fiery core while maintaining its inherent depth. Balmorhea proves to be a versatile player in classic cocktails, bringing a full-bodied warmth to an Old Fashioned or adding depth to a Manhattan. Its bold character can stand up to the other ingredients, ensuring that its distinctive qualities shine through. For a lighter option, a Highball can showcase Balmorhea’s adaptability, allowing its spiced vanilla and oak notes to mingle with the effervescence of soda. When it comes to glassware, a Glencairn glass is ideal for those wishing to explore the full aromatic profile of this bourbon through nosing. For casual sipping, a rocks glass offers comfort and familiarity, enhancing the drinking experience whether you’re enjoying it neat or with a touch of ice. Balmorhea by Garrison Brothers is not just a whiskey; it’s a testament to the art of bourbon making, offering a bold yet smooth experience that captures the spirit of Texas in every pour.
