Angostura Aromatic Bitter (4 OZ) is $10.99 at CBC Liquors, Westford in Massachusetts — in stock now, with pickup and local delivery. Angostura Aromatic Bitters were created in 1824 by Dr. Johann Siegert, surgeon general for Simón Bolívar's army in Venezuela as a medical tonic for the soldiers. Siegert's sons moved the business to Trinidad in 1875 where it remains today. It is said only five people know the secret recipe. The brand was allowed to continue to sell its bitters in the US during Prohibition as it was deemed too bitter to drink on its own.
