Denizen 8 Year Merchant Reserve

Denizen's 8 Year Merchant Reserve rum is a testament to the art of blending, pulling together diverse influences from renowned rum-producing regions. This distinctive expression marries Rhum Grand Arome from Martinique with rums from four storied Jamaican distilleries: Clarendon, Hampden, New Yarmouth, and Worthy Park. The result is a robust profile, where 60% of the rum has enjoyed eight years of maturation in ex-bourbon barrels. This aging process imbues the spirit with a depth and complexity that aficionados of aged rum will appreciate. Expect a full-bodied character with rich notes typical of aged rums—think layers of caramel, ripe banana, and a hint of vanilla, balanced by the slightly grassy and fruity undertones from the Martinique rhum. The 43% ABV delivers a pleasantly warming finish, making it a versatile choice for both sipping and mixing. While it can stand alone as a contemplative sipper, this rum truly shines in classic rum cocktails. Its complexity enhances a traditional Daiquiri, while its depth adds an intriguing twist to a Rum Old Fashioned. For serving, a rocks glass will complement the rum's nuanced profile when enjoyed neat or with a single ice cube. When mixed, a highball or coupe glass will suit cocktails like a Daiquiri or Mojito. Pairing this rum with lightly spiced or tropical cuisine can also elevate a meal, drawing out the spirit's intricate flavors. Denizen's Merchant Reserve offers a unique opportunity to explore the world of blended rums with a product that respects tradition while embracing a modern sensibility.
