Rising Tide Waypoint

Waypoint is a robust porter crafted by Rising Tide Brewing Company, nestled in the dynamic East Bayside neighborhood of Portland, Maine. This dark beer presents a harmonious blend of roasted malt flavors, typical of the porter style, offering a velvety mouthfeel that is both inviting and satisfying. With an ABV of 5%, Waypoint strikes a balance between richness and drinkability, making it an excellent choice for those seeking depth without overwhelming strength. Expect to encounter a bouquet of complex aromas, with hints of chocolate, coffee, and subtle caramel, each sip revealing a smooth, roasted character. The moderate bitterness, measured at 30 IBU, complements the malt's sweetness, finishing with a clean, dry note that lingers elegantly. While it does not require decanting, serving this porter slightly chilled, around 50 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit, will enhance its intricate flavor profile. The versatility of Waypoint extends to the dining table, where it pairs beautifully with hearty dishes. Consider matching it with grilled meats, barbecue, or even a savory mushroom risotto to highlight its roasted nuances. For dessert, it complements chocolate-based treats or a rich cheesecake, offering a delightful contrast to the sweetness. Serving this porter in a nonic pint glass or a tulip glass will capture its aromas and allow the flavors to unfold fully. Though designed to be enjoyed now, the quality and craftsmanship of Waypoint suggest that it could hold its own for a short period if cellared properly, allowing for a subtle maturation of flavors. Whether you're exploring the world of dark beers or are a seasoned enthusiast, Waypoint promises a rewarding experience rooted deeply in Maine’s brewing tradition.
