Description
Sierra Nevada Torpedo is a distinctive American IPA that stands out with its pioneering use of the Hop Torpedo, a method that amplifies the aromatic impact of hops without increasing bitterness. Pouring a vibrant amber, this beer presents a robust character with a harmonious blend of hop-driven aromas. Expect a medley of pine, citrus, and floral notes that invite you to explore its layered complexity. With an ABV of 7.2% and an IBU of 65, Torpedo delivers a balanced intensity that appeals to experienced IPA enthusiasts and newcomers alike. When it comes to serving Sierra Nevada Torpedo, optimal enjoyment can be achieved at a temperature between 45 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit. This allows the intricate flavors to flourish and the aromas to be fully appreciated. Choosing the right glassware can further enhance the experience, with a tulip glass being an excellent choice for showcasing the beer’s aromatic bouquet while supporting its substantial head. Pair Sierra Nevada Torpedo with foods that can stand up to its bold profile. Spicy dishes, such as buffalo wings or Thai curry, harmonize beautifully with the beer’s vibrant hop character, while the malt backbone provides a counterbalance to rich, savory flavors. Grilled meats and sharp cheeses also make for delightful companions, each bite complementing the beer's assertive taste and inviting you to take another sip. Whether enjoyed with a meal or savored on its own, Torpedo offers a genuine expression of American IPA craftsmanship.

-
Drank this side by side with Lagunitas IPA and honestly like Torpedo better for kick but Lagunitas still edges it for drinkability.
Response from CBC Liquors, Westford
Nice comparison, Lagunitas is definitely easier going but Torpedo packs that punch some folks crave.

and then you realize why Torpedo is always in the fridge. Not messing around, so good after mowing the yard.

Hopped on Zoom with my cousins and halfway through the second can realized this one hits harder than it tastes.
-
solid ipa, a little bitter for me
Response from CBC Liquors, Westford
Torpedo definitely leans into the hops. If you want something less bitter next time, try Sierra Nevada Pale Ale instead. - Marie
