Sam Houston Small Batch Reserve

Sam Houston Small Batch Reserve stands as an exemplary bourbon, embodying the rich heritage of Kentucky distilling. This bourbon is a masterful blend, meticulously crafted from barrels aged for no less than 12 years, yielding a spirit with a robust 50.0% ABV. Each sip unveils a tapestry of flavors, with the expected vanilla and caramel notes complemented by a deeper oak presence, a testament to its extended aging. Hints of warm spice and a subtle char add layers of complexity, making this bourbon both bold and harmonious. For those who appreciate their whiskey neat, the Small Batch Reserve offers a full-bodied experience. The warmth of its high proof is tempered by the rich flavor profile, creating a satisfying and smooth finish. If you prefer to soften its intensity, consider serving it over a single large ice cube, which will gently open up the bourbon's intricate layers without diluting its character. Alternatively, a few drops of water can reveal hidden aromas and enhance the underlying sweetness. In the realm of cocktails, this bourbon shines in a classic Old Fashioned, where its depth of flavor can stand up to the bitters and sugar, resulting in a truly balanced cocktail. It also serves as a fine choice for a Manhattan, where its oaky undertones pair beautifully with the sweet vermouth and a dash of bitters. For glassware, a Glencairn glass is ideal for nosing and appreciating the nuanced aromas, while a rocks glass is perfect for savoring it on the rocks or in a cocktail. Sam Houston Small Batch Reserve is a bourbon that appeals to both seasoned connoisseurs and those new to the world of whiskey. Its complexity and refined finish offer an authentic taste of Kentucky craftsmanship, making it a notable addition to any whiskey collection.
