Description
Privateer's Navy Yard Rum is an intriguing example of American craftsmanship, with roots firmly planted in the storied rum tradition of New England. Crafted under the discerning eye of Master Distiller Maggie Campbell, this rum is part of a series that has captured the attention of connoisseurs and casual enthusiasts alike. Distilled entirely from molasses and aged for over three years in full-sized new American oak barrels, each cask delivers a distinctive character, with this specific bottling (P88) showcasing a robust 57.7% ABV. The rich, golden hue of Navy Yard Rum is a prelude to its complex flavor profile. On the nose, expect notes of caramel and vanilla, tempered by the warm embrace of oak and hints of baking spices. As you take a sip, these aromas give way to deeper flavors of toffee and dried fruit, with a touch of peppery spice that lingers on the palate. The full-bodied nature and higher proof of this rum make it equally suitable for sipping neat or serving as the backbone in a variety of classic cocktails. For those who enjoy a bold cocktail, Navy Yard Rum shines in a Rum Old Fashioned, where its depth and complexity are complemented by a touch of citrus and bitters. Alternatively, its powerful character and aromatic profile make it an excellent choice for a Dark 'n' Stormy, where it can stand up to the spicy kick of ginger beer. When serving neat, consider a classic rocks glass to fully appreciate its amber tones and rich aromas. Navy Yard Rum's versatility extends to food pairings as well. Its sweet and spicy notes are a natural match for grilled meats and rich sauces, while the caramel and oak flavors can enhance desserts like rum-soaked cakes or caramel flan. Whether you’re exploring its potential in a craft cocktail or savoring it on its own, this rum offers a unique taste of Massachusetts’ distilling heritage.

Privateer Navy Yard Rum with grilled shrimp tacos. Packs a punch, little on the hot side for sipping neat but still really liked it. Will probably try in a daiquiri next time.
Response from CBC Liquors, Westford
Good call pairing this with shrimp tacos. If you want to take some of that heat off, mixing it in a cocktail is definitely the way to go.
