Kaiyo Mizunara Ramu

Mizunara Ramu by Kaiyō is a rum that stands out for its intriguing blend of cultural influences and distinctive aging process. Crafted in Japan, this rum is matured in Mizunara oak barrels, traditionally used for Japanese whisky, which infuse the spirit with a unique character not commonly found in rums. The interaction with Mizunara wood imparts subtle notes of sandalwood and coconut, creating an unexpectedly aromatic experience. At 40% ABV, this rum offers a balanced profile that is both inviting and complex. While styles like this often shine as sipping rums, Mizunara Ramu's nuanced flavors also make it an ideal candidate for crafting sophisticated cocktails. Its delicate yet rich palate complements the refreshing simplicity of a Daiquiri, while it can also add an exotic twist to a classic Mojito. For those intrigued by more modern concoctions, try this rum in a Rum Old Fashioned, where its aromatic qualities can truly take center stage amidst the bitters and sugar. Serve it neat in a tulip glass to best appreciate its aromatic qualities, or use a highball glass for mixed drinks to allow the flavors to open up over ice. Consider pairing this rum with lightly spiced dishes or tropical fruits to enhance its natural sweetness and woody undertones. Mizunara Ramu invites exploration, offering a taste that bridges the gap between traditional rum and the refined elegance of Japanese spirits.
