Description
Fernet Branca stands as a distinctive beacon in the world of herbal liqueurs, recognized for its complex and bold character. Originating from Lombardy, Italy, this liqueur is crafted using a confidential recipe that combines 27 different herbs and spices. The result is a deeply aromatic and bittersweet profile, offering a unique taste experience that has captivated palates worldwide. With an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 39%, Fernet Branca delivers an assertive yet harmoniously balanced sip, making it an intriguing choice for those who appreciate depth in their drinks. Typically enjoyed as a digestif, Fernet Branca is renowned for its ability to enrich the end of a meal with its complex herbal notes. However, its versatility extends well beyond the dining table. This liqueur lends itself beautifully to cocktails, often used by bartenders to add a layer of sophistication and depth. Classic cocktails such as the Toronto or the Hanky Panky are elevated by the unique character of Fernet Branca, with its bitter undertones providing a perfect counterpoint to sweet and citrus components. Serving Fernet Branca can be as varied as its uses. For a straightforward approach, it can be sipped neat, allowing one to fully appreciate its intricate blend of botanicals. Serving it over ice can slightly mellow its robust flavors, offering a smoother, chilled experience. Additionally, when mixed with soda water, Fernet Branca transforms into a refreshing highball that maintains its distinctive bitterness while becoming more approachable. This versatility makes it not only a staple for cocktail enthusiasts but also a cherished bottle for both casual and seasoned drinkers alike.

Took it straight out of the freezer, sipped after a heavy meal. Definitely herbal, bitters work better for me when mixed but this was good on its own too. Not something I reach for every night.
Response from CBC Liquors, Westford
Good call keeping Fernet Branca in the freezer. If you want something more mellow, try Montenegro next time.
