Blaugies La Vermontoise

La Vermontoise is a captivating expression of what happens when Belgian brewing tradition meets American innovation. Born from a collaboration between the esteemed Brasserie de Blaugies and Hill Farmstead Brewery, this saison hails from Hainaut, Belgium, and features an intriguing blend of styles. With an ABV of 6.0% and an IBU of 35, it presents a dry, crisp profile that’s both refreshing and nuanced with complexity. The distinct character of La Vermontoise is largely attributed to the inclusion of spelt, which imparts a gentle spiciness that plays harmoniously with its subtle hop accents. Expect a delicate balance between the earthy, rustic notes typical of traditional saisons and a contemporary twist of American hop influence. This results in a beer that is both approachable for those new to the style and rewarding for seasoned connoisseurs seeking depth in every sip. Best enjoyed when served in a tulip glass, La Vermontoise should be poured at a temperature around 45-50°F to fully appreciate its layered aromas and flavors. The glassware choice allows its complex bouquet to unfold gracefully, enhancing the experience with every sip. This versatile beer pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes, from light seafood and fresh salads to artisanal cheeses and charcuterie. Its dry finish and moderate bitterness make it a delightful companion to meals that feature herbal or citrus elements, accentuating the beer's refreshing qualities. Whether you're exploring the world of saisons or revisiting a beloved style, La Vermontoise offers a distinctive blend of Old World charm and New World flair that is sure to impress.
