Description
Hop Riot by HOT PLATE is a bold entry into the world of Specialty IPAs, hailing from the heart of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Crafted with precision and passion, this beer captures the rebellious spirit its name suggests. Despite its robust 8% ABV, Hop Riot surprises with an intriguing absence of bitterness, boasting an IBU of 0. It defies the traditional expectations of an IPA, offering a smooth and balanced drinking experience that is both approachable and unexpected. Specialty IPAs like Hop Riot typically showcase a unique blend of flavors, and this brew is no exception. Expect a playful mix of tropical fruit notes and subtle floral undertones that dance across the palate. Its smoothness and depth make it a versatile companion for various culinary adventures. Pair it with spicy dishes like Thai curry or Mexican tacos to complement its fruity character, or with a rich, creamy cheese to create a delightful contrast. Serving Hop Riot at the right temperature can enhance its flavor profile, so aim for a slightly chilled pour, around 45 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. This allows the beer's nuanced aromas to emerge, providing a fuller sensory experience. For the ideal presentation, opt for a classic tulip glass. Its shape is designed to capture and concentrate the aromas, accentuating this IPA's unique qualities. Whether you're a seasoned IPA enthusiast or exploring Specialty IPAs for the first time, Hop Riot offers a distinct and enjoyable experience. Its innovative approach to a traditional style makes it a standout choice for those seeking something both familiar and refreshingly new.

Grabbed it for my cousin who was visiting from out of state, she loved it, I thought it was just a little heavy but still pretty tasty. Cool brewery story though.

bit strong for my usual taste, but I finished the can. Not quite what I expected from a specialty IPA. Would try something different next time.
Response from CBC Liquors, Westford
Some IPAs really bring the strength, and this one's definitely on that side. If you want something lighter, ask about our session IPAs next visit.
