Toppling Goliath Hazy Day Sue

Hazy Day Sue by Toppling Goliath is a New England IPA that invites you into the vibrant world of hazy ales, where soft mouthfeel and juiciness are the stars of the show. Crafted in the heart of Decorah, Iowa, this beer epitomizes the brewery's dedication to creating beers that are both innovative and rooted in tradition. With an ABV of 6.5% and notably low bitterness, Hazy Day Sue strikes a balance that appeals to both IPA aficionados and those new to the style. While many IPAs boast a prominent hop bitterness, this beer leans into the New England style's signature opaqueness and fruit-forward profile, offering a blend of tropical and citrus notes that dance on the palate. The absence of bitterness units (IBU) suggests an emphasis on flavor over bitterness, making it an ideal companion to a variety of dishes. Consider pairing it with spicy Thai cuisine or a classic margarita pizza, where its juicy character can counterbalance the heat or complement the creamy freshness of mozzarella. The beer's lush and hazy appearance is best showcased in a tulip glass, which helps concentrate the enticing aromas while allowing the creamy head to develop and linger. For optimal enjoyment, Hazy Day Sue should be served at a slightly chilled temperature—between 45°F and 50°F is ideal—to ensure the full spectrum of its flavors can be experienced. Whether you're a long-time fan of Toppling Goliath's acclaimed brewing or exploring their offerings for the first time, this New England IPA provides a satisfying exploration of hop complexity and fruity nuances.
