G4 Clasico Reposado Tequila

G4 Clasico Reposado is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila from Arandas, in Jalisco's Highlands, bottled at 40% ABV. The reference details tie it to Felipe Camarena and Destilería El Pandillo, and describe it as rested in oak, with cooked agave, vanilla and light baking spice as the main notes. Highland agave tends to run a little sweeter and fruitier than Lowland fruit, so expect the cooked-agave sweetness to lead and the oak to stay in the background. Reposado means the tequila has spent at least two months and under a year in oak. That sits between Blanco, which is unaged or rested only briefly and shows the plain agave, citrus and pepper, and Añejo, which spends one to three years in wood and moves toward caramel, toasted nut and dried fruit. Extra Añejo goes beyond three years and is usually sipped like a whisky. A Reposado in this style usually keeps the agave in front and uses the barrel for a rounder texture and a vanilla or light spice edge, so the vanilla and baking-spice notes listed for this bottle fit what you would expect from a short rest in oak. It sips well neat. A caballito or a small tulip-shaped glass concentrates the aroma, and room temperature or a short chill lets the cooked agave and vanilla come through without the cold muting them. If you prefer it over ice, use one large cube in a rocks glass so it dilutes slowly. Salt and lime aren't needed with a Reposado of this kind, but a slice of orange or a pinch of salt on the rim can suit those who like a drier finish. In cocktails, the oak gives it more body than a Blanco, which makes it a good fit for a Margarita where you want a softer, slightly warmer profile. Shake it with fresh lime juice and an orange liqueur, and serve it in a rocks glass over fresh ice with a salted rim. A Paloma works the same way: pour over ice with grapefruit soda and a squeeze of lime, and the vanilla note rounds off the bitterness of the grapefruit. For a Ranch Water, build it tall with lime juice and sparkling mineral water over plenty of ice. Reposado makes a gentler, less sharp version than the usual Blanco, and a long pour keeps the barrel notes from getting lost.
