Description

Campfire by High West stands out as a unique bourbon that melds American tradition with a touch of Scottish allure. This intriguing blend brings together straight bourbon, straight rye, and a hint of blended malt Scotch whisky, presenting a distinctive profile that whiskey enthusiasts are sure to appreciate. Crafted with precision, the bourbon component features a mash bill of 71% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley, offering a classic sweetness with a spicy undertone. The rye, with its 95% rye and 5% malted barley mix, contributes a robust and peppery bite, while the Scotch whisky adds a whisper of smoke, creating a harmonious symphony of flavors. On the palate, Campfire reveals layers that unravel with each sip. Expect warm notes of charred oak and vanilla intertwined with the gentle spice of cinnamon, complemented by a subtle smokiness that lingers gracefully. The finish is long and inviting, leaving a nuanced trail of sweet toffee and toasted nuts. With an ABV of 46%, it strikes a balance—strong enough to stand robustly on its own, but smooth enough to enjoy in various forms. For those who appreciate neat whiskey, Campfire delivers a full-bodied experience that is best savored from a Glencairn glass, allowing its diverse aromas to be fully appreciated. If you prefer to mellow its dynamic profile, serving it over a single large ice cube in a rocks glass can soften the edges without diluting its essence too quickly. A splash of water can also be added to open up the hidden depths of its character. When it comes to cocktails, Campfire is versatile yet distinctive. It lends itself beautifully to an Old Fashioned, where its smoky sweetness can shine through the bitters and sugar. It also makes a compelling base for a Manhattan, where the interplay of rye's spice and bourbon's sweetness meets the herbal vermouth in perfect harmony. This whiskey's complex profile ensures it holds its own, whether you're enjoying it in a classic cocktail or simply exploring its rich tapestry of flavors on its own.

almost went too smoky for me but pulled back just enough. Shared with a friend who usually sticks to bourbon and we both agreed it was different in a good way. Not an everyday pour but definitely interesting.
