Description
Bordeaux 161 by 90+ Cellars is an intriguing red blend that transports the classic essence of Bordeaux wines to the sunlit vineyards of California. This wine captures the signature depth and character expected from its French heritage, yet it boasts a distinctive Californian flair. At 13.5% ABV, it offers a medium-bodied experience with a harmonious structure. Expect a bouquet that hints at dark fruits commonly associated with Bordeaux styles, such as blackcurrant and plum, complemented by subtle earthy undertones. The palate is likely to present soft tannins, balanced by an invigorating acidity that lends the wine a refreshing finish. To fully appreciate Bordeaux 161, serve it slightly cooler than room temperature, ideally between 60 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit. This will enhance its nuanced flavors and preserve its delicate balance. While decanting isn't strictly necessary, allowing it to breathe for a short period can help in opening up its complex profile. A wide-bowled glass will ideally amplify the aromas and provide ample surface area for the wine to evolve as you sip. In terms of culinary pairings, Bordeaux 161's versatility shines. It complements hearty meats such as grilled lamb chops and beef tenderloin, where its acidity cuts through the richness, enhancing the meal's flavors. Moreover, it pairs beautifully with a variety of cheeses, from a robust Roquefort to a creamy Brie, making it a thoughtful choice for a sophisticated cheese board. While Bordeaux 161 is enjoyable now, its balanced composition suggests it might also develop intriguing flavors with short-term aging. This wine is a testament to 90+ Cellars' prowess in crafting blends that honor tradition while embracing modern winemaking techniques.

solid everyday red from 90 plus
Friday game night wine. Pretty smooth for the price, drank well on its own but faded a bit with pizza. Would grab it again if I need a crowd bottle.
Response from CBC Liquors, Westford
Glad Bordeaux 161 worked for game night. If you want something that stands up to pizza, try a Cahors or malbec next time.
