Maine Beer Co Another One

Another One is a New England IPA from Maine Beer Co in Maine, USA. The style has a recognizable profile, so here is what to expect. Beers like this usually pour hazy and golden to pale orange, with a soft, full body from oats or wheat and a low-bitterness finish. Hops are used late in the boil and in the fermenter, which gives juicy aromatics and little sharp bite. Typical notes are orange, grapefruit and tangerine, with tropical fruit such as mango or pineapple, and sometimes a light pine or resin edge. The malt is a gentle backdrop, not a sweet centerpiece. The listing gives no ABV or IBU figure, so check the can for the exact numbers. Serve it cool, not ice-cold. Around 45 to 50°F is the usual range for hazy IPAs. Colder than that mutes the hop aroma and makes the texture feel thinner. Take the can out of the fridge about ten minutes before pouring if it has been sitting near freezing. For glassware, a tulip or a wide-mouthed IPA glass is the best choice. The bowl holds the aromatics and the flared rim keeps a foam head in place. A standard pint glass works if you have nothing else. A pour straight from the can, with a little swirl at the end to loosen the yeast and hop sediment, shows the full haze and aroma. The soft body and fruit-forward hops suit food with some heat and richness. Thai green curry, pad thai and spicy tacos all work, because the juicy hops cool the heat without clashing. Grilled chicken, fish tacos with lime and a New England clam bake also pair well. Sharp aged cheddar or a tangy goat cheese offer a savory contrast to the citrus. Because this style is at its best when fresh, drink it soon after purchase and keep it refrigerated.
