Description

El Jolgorio's Ancestral Arroqueño mezcal is a captivating expression hailing from the heart of Oaxaca, Mexico. Crafted with meticulous attention to traditional methods, this mezcal emanates the profound complexity and robust character of the Arroqueño agave. Boasting a striking 47% ABV, it provides an intriguing journey through nuanced layers of flavor that are both bold and beguiling. The Arroqueño agave, prized for its size and depth, contributes a rich palate that is both earthy and sweet, with hints of floral and citrus undertones dancing across the senses. This mezcal is best appreciated when sipped neat, allowing its full spectrum of flavors to unfold in a caballito, a traditional mezcal glass that accentuates its aromatic profile. While it is a delight on its own, Ancestral Arroqueño also excels in cocktails that highlight its distinctive character. A Paloma crafted with this mezcal gains an added dimension of depth, while a Ranch Water cocktail becomes a refreshing, yet complex treat. The mezcal's vibrant notes are complemented beautifully by the zest of citrus and a touch of salt, inviting a harmonious balance that elevates every sip. For those looking to savor its essence, consider pairing this mezcal with light, citrus-infused dishes or grilled seafood, which play off its inherent smokiness and vegetal notes. Whether you're exploring the mezcal category for the first time or are a seasoned enthusiast, El Jolgorio's Ancestral Arroqueño offers a genuine taste of Oaxacan tradition, promising a memorable experience with every glass.

Been loyal to Del Maguey's lineup but El Jolgorio's Arroqueio just feels richer and more layered every sip. Gotta say it steals the show if youre splitting pours with friends who are into mezcal.

kept thinking about how earthy this was compared to the Espadin I usually get. Needed a splash of water to open it up for me, but worth the step. Would grab again but not my everyday sipper.

Earthier is right. If you want something closer to Espadin next time, try Rey Campero Tepextate. - Tom

Grilled pork chops, roasted poblano salsa, and a pour of this mezcal. Could not have matched up better. The Arroqueno has its own thing going on, stands out at the table.
