Bottled in bond is a United States labeling standard for whiskey. The whiskey must be aged at least four years, bottled at 100 proof, and made by a single distillery in a single distilling season. Rittenhouse bottled in bond rye is labeled to that standard.
Rye whiskey is made from a grain mix that is at least 51 percent rye in the United States, and it is known for a spicier, drier character than most bourbon. Rye is a traditional choice for cocktails such as the Manhattan and the Old Fashioned, and it is also served neat or over ice.
