What is Teremana tequila?

Teremana is a tequila brand co-founded by Dwayne Johnson. It is made in Jalisco, Mexico, the region where most tequila comes from. Like all tequila, it is distilled from the blue Weber agave plant, a spiky succulent whose heart is cooked, crushed, fermented and distilled.

What sets one tequila apart from another is mostly what happens after distillation. A blanco goes into the bottle unaged or very lightly rested. A reposado spends time in oak barrels. An añejo spends longer in oak. That time in wood changes the colour, the aroma and the feel of the spirit.

Our Teremana bottles are the oak-aged styles, so the reposado versus añejo question below is the one that matters when you pick between them.

What is the difference between Teremana reposado and añejo?

Under Mexican rules, reposado means the tequila has rested in oak for at least two months and less than a year. Añejo means at least a year and up to three. The longer stay is why an añejo usually looks darker and tastes rounder.

In practice, a reposado sits between a blanco and an añejo. You still get the agave character, but the barrel adds a softer edge, often with notes of vanilla, caramel or baking spice. Those are general traits of the style, not a tasting note for any one bottle.

An añejo leans further into the oak. The flavours are deeper and the finish is smoother, which is why many people sip añejo on its own rather than mix it. If you are comparing, start with TEREMANA Reposado for something versatile, or TEREMANA Anejo for something to sip.

If you want the unaged style for a margarita or a paloma, browse our blanco tequila page for what we have.

How do you drink Teremana tequila?

There is no single right way. Reposado works neat, over ice, or in a cocktail, since the oak adds enough body to hold up in a mixed drink without hiding the agave.

A few simple ways to serve it:

Over one large ice cube with a lime wedge on the side. This lets the tequila open up slowly and keeps the drink from watering down fast.

In a margarita, built with lime juice and an orange liqueur. A reposado gives the drink a rounder, slightly warmer character than a blanco does.

With soda and lime, as a tall, light highball. Pick up club soda or tonic from our mixers shelf when you come in.

An añejo is best treated like a good whiskey. Serve it neat or with a single cube in a short glass, and give it a minute. If you enjoy sipping spirits, you might also look at our whiskey and bourbon selection, since the oak-driven style is similar.

Which Teremana bottle should you buy?

Think about how you plan to use it. For cocktails and mixed drinks, the reposado is the practical choice. It is flexible, and the oak softens the edges without overpowering the other ingredients.

For sipping, or for a gift to someone who likes aged spirits, the añejo is the better match. The extra barrel time is the point, so it is a bottle to pour slowly in a proper glass rather than shake with ice.

We list two entries for each style: TEREMANA Reposado Tequila and TEREMANA Anejo Tequila sit alongside the other two listings. Open each page to see the bottle size and what is in stock before you order.

If you are not sure, ask at the counter. We would rather help you pick the right bottle than have you guess.

Planning a gathering: what else goes with tequila?

If you are buying tequila for friends, a few extras make the evening easier. Limes, club soda and a good mixer cover most simple tequila drinks, and our mixers section has the non-alcoholic side of the bar.

For guests who prefer something lighter, our seltzers and ready-to-drink shelves give them an easy option that needs no mixing. If beer is on the list too, you can browse beer alongside the tequila in one trip.

For bigger events, the party planner page can help you think through quantities, and our kegs page covers keg and special order requests.

Please pour with care and keep it to what your guests will drink comfortably. Nobody drinking should be driving afterward.
