Louis Jadot Chardonnay is a dry white wine from one of Burgundy's best-known houses, and CBC Liquors in Westford carries it. You can see the full Louis Jadot range we stock on the brand page, and pick up at 142 Littleton Rd, or ask about pickup and delivery.
What is Louis Jadot Chardonnay?
Louis Jadot is a wine house based in Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy, France. Burgundy is the home of Chardonnay, and the white wines of the region are made from that one grape. When you buy Louis Jadot Chardonnay, you are buying a Chardonnay from a house whose whole identity is built around the grape.
That matters because Chardonnay is a very adaptable variety. It can be lean and mineral in a cool climate, rich and tropical in a warm one, and heavily oaked or not oaked at all depending on what the winemaker wants. Burgundy sits toward the restrained, food-friendly end of that range.
If you have had a Chardonnay you found too buttery or too heavy, a Burgundy-house bottle like this one is often the place people go next. If you already like a crisp, balanced white, it is a natural fit.
What does Louis Jadot Chardonnay taste like?
White Burgundy as a style is usually dry, medium in body and built around fruit and freshness rather than sweetness. Expect flavors in the range of green apple, pear, lemon and a little stone or chalk, with a gentle, rounded texture rather than a heavy one.
Oak, where it is used in Burgundy, tends to be a supporting note. You may notice a touch of toast or cream, but the aim is usually balance, not a wall of vanilla.
The acidity is what makes this style so easy to pour with dinner. It keeps the wine lively and lets it stand up to richer food without tasting flabby.

How is it different from the Jadot Chablis and Pouilly-Fuissé?
All three are Chardonnay, which surprises a lot of people. The difference is where the grapes grow and how the wine is handled.
Louis Jadot Chablis comes from the northernmost part of Burgundy, where the climate is cool and the soils are chalky. Chablis is generally the leanest and most mineral of the three, with a sharp, clean finish. It is the one to reach for with oysters and shellfish.
Louis Jadot Pouilly Fuisse comes from the Mâconnais in the south of Burgundy, where it is warmer. Pouilly-Fuissé generally shows riper fruit and a rounder, fuller feel.
The standard Chardonnay sits comfortably between them as a good starting point. If you are not sure which style you like, buying two of them and tasting side by side is a good way to find out.
What food goes with Louis Jadot Chardonnay?
A dry, balanced Chardonnay is one of the more flexible white wines at the table. Roast chicken is the classic match, and the wine handles the skin, the pan juices and the herbs without any trouble.
It also works with seafood that has some richness to it: scallops, lobster, salmon, or white fish in a butter or cream sauce. Pasta with a cream or mushroom sauce is another good fit, as are soft cheeses and mild, nutty hard cheeses.
Avoid pairing it with very spicy food or heavy red-meat dishes. The wine is not built for those, and it will taste thin next to them.
Serve it cool, not ice cold. Pulling it from the refrigerator about 15 minutes before pouring gives you a better glass than serving it straight from the cold, where the flavors get muted.
Does Louis Jadot make a red to go with it?
Yes. Burgundy's red grape is Pinot Noir, and Louis Jadot Pinot Noir is the red counterpart to the Chardonnay. Pinot Noir is light to medium in body, with red-fruit flavors and soft tannins, which makes it a good pick when a table is split between white and red drinkers.
If you are building a dinner around one producer, serving the Chardonnay with a first course and the Pinot Noir with the main is an easy way to do it. You can also browse more reds in the red wine section.
How do you choose between Chardonnay styles?
Start with how much oak you like. If you prefer a clean, fresh glass, look at Chablis and unoaked or lightly oaked Burgundy-style bottles. If you like something rounder and richer, look toward warmer-climate Chardonnays or the fuller wines of the Mâconnais.
The Chardonnay section lets you compare bottles from different places on the same page. If you want to step back and look at the wider choice, the white wine section covers the other grapes too.

How should you store and serve an open bottle?
Keep unopened bottles somewhere cool, dark and away from heat, such as a closet or cellar rather than on top of the refrigerator. Bottles sealed with a cork are better stored on their side so the cork stays moist.
Once opened, put the stopper or cork back in and keep the bottle in the refrigerator. A Chardonnay like this one is usually still pleasant for a few days, though it is freshest on the first night.
As always, enjoy it in moderation and only if you are 21 or older.
Common questions
Is Louis Jadot Chardonnay dry or sweet?
Burgundy-style Chardonnay is made dry. You will notice fruit flavors like apple and pear, but the wine itself is not sweet.
Is Louis Jadot Chardonnay oaked?
Burgundy Chardonnay generally uses oak with a light hand, so you may notice a touch of toast or cream rather than heavy vanilla. Ask us at the counter if you want to know about a specific bottle.
What is the difference between Chablis and Chardonnay?
Chablis is Chardonnay. It is the name of the cool northern Burgundy region where the grapes are grown, and the wines there tend to be leaner and more mineral.
How cold should I serve Louis Jadot Chardonnay?
Cool but not ice cold. Take it out of the refrigerator about 15 minutes before serving so the flavors show properly.
