Epochal The Primum Mobile

The Primum Mobile by Epochal is an intriguing offering from the heart of Glasgow's vibrant brewing scene. With a measured ABV of 6.5% and an IBU of 30, this specialty beer is a testament to the fine art of Scottish ale craftsmanship. This brew deftly balances tradition and innovation, delivering a flavor profile where a robust malt backbone meets a distinctively modern hop expression. Expect a layered taste with hints of caramel and toffee from the malt, underpinned by a subtle bitterness, making each sip both complex and refreshing. Serving The Primum Mobile at its best requires attention to detail. For optimal enjoyment, pour it into a tulip glass, which helps to concentrate its aromas and allows the head to form properly, enhancing both taste and visual appeal. Aim for a serving temperature between 45-50°F (7-10°C) to ensure that its nuanced flavors come through without being overshadowed by the chill. This temperature range allows the malt sweetness and hop bitterness to be balanced, providing a well-rounded drinking experience. When it comes to food pairings, The Primum Mobile shines alongside hearty fare. Its malt sweetness complements roasted or grilled meats beautifully, and its hop profile can cut through the richness of a creamy cheese sauce or a robust stew. For those who enjoy exploring beer with cheese, pair it with a sharp cheddar or a blue cheese to highlight its complexity. This Scottish ale also pairs well with earthy dishes, such as mushroom risotto, where its depth of flavor can resonate with the umami notes of the dish. In The Primum Mobile, Epochal has created a beer that not only respects the traditions of Scottish brewing but also embraces a contemporary edge. Whether you're a seasoned beer enthusiast or someone looking to expand your palate, this specialty beer offers a satisfying exploration of flavor that speaks to the innovation and heritage of its Glasgow roots.
