Sagamore Manhattan Finish Rye

Sagamore Manhattan Finish Rye stands out as a distinctive expression in the world of rye whiskey, merging traditional craftsmanship with innovative barrel finishing. Originating from Maryland, this whiskey is a testament to the state's rich rye heritage and showcases its unique character through a thoughtful finishing process. The whiskey is matured in barrels previously used for vermouth, bitters, and cherry brandy, imparting nuanced flavors that echo the essence of a classic Manhattan cocktail. With an assertive 49% ABV, this rye whiskey exudes a robust profile that is both spicy and complex. Upon tasting, you can expect a harmonious blend of the signature peppery rye spice seamlessly intertwined with the sweet undertones of cherry brandy, and a whisper of herbal notes from the vermouth. The bitters barrel finish adds layers of complexity, contributing subtle hints of botanicals that dance on the palate. This intricate balance of flavors makes Sagamore Manhattan Finish Rye a remarkable choice for sipping neat, where its full spectrum of aromas can be appreciated, especially when served in a Glencairn glass to enhance the nosing experience. For those who prefer their whiskey with a chill, serving it on the rocks in a sturdy rocks glass allows the gradual dilution to mellow its intensity and open up its bouquet, making it a more accessible experience without sacrificing depth. Alternatively, a splash of water can similarly unveil hidden notes, highlighting its rich and layered composition. While this rye is a natural fit for classic cocktails, it particularly shines in a Manhattan, where its inherent flavors elevate the cocktail's traditional elements without the need for additional vermouth or bitters. Ultimately, Sagamore Manhattan Finish Rye captures the spirit of innovation while paying homage to a beloved cocktail tradition. Its intricate flavor profile and versatility in serving make it a compelling choice for both rye aficionados and those seeking a novel whiskey experience.
